365 Days

A year ago today I graduated from high school and moved to San Diego. Keeping in contact with people from Boys Ranch has been difficult, but not entirely impossible. Myspace is apparently a thing… And unless I have a way to produce my music I see no point in getting one. However, I have had one and do use it – pointlessly, of course. Shortly after graduation last year my father and I went to the Gateway store and shopped around for a computer for me to use for college. Pentium 4 Processor, 15 inch flat screen – I did pretty good. Although, I’m sure that within the next few years it will be a paper weight.

Christian WeatherspoonI’ve been working on my music using my computer’s default “voice recorder” for the last year. I’m still looking for something better – some program that allows me to edit the audio a little bit more. Thus far, however I have called my ‘band’ FallNFaster (not the best name, just better then nothing). And, it gives me a place to post my music online other than myspace and here on my website. But here’s the bio:

“I moved to San Diego in late May/early June of 2003, and have been playing the guitar for only five months or so. Up to now it’s been about a year, just about. My only desire is to entertain people and give them an outlet listening to my music, and possibly even hope– in that I’ve been through a lot of crap, but so have you, and we can both relate. The most primitive emotions: love, hate, happiness, despair, they are all the subject matter of many songs today… you can visit my MySpace profile. I’ve posted some “blogs” about songwriting, and you can visit my personal website and read my blog. Thanks”

Stay up-to-date with all my music and give me all of your feedback – whether you like it or hate it, I’d love to hear it! At the beginning of this month I just have my first gig at Just Java Cafe in Chula Vista. It was a lot of fun, but honestly I had to drag my parents to it kicking and screaming and I have a feeling that they will never show up at another show again. It’s not that it didn’t go well, in my opinion, because there were a lot of people who showed up for me (23); What makes me think that is later that evening I asked my father what he thought… talk about crushing hopes and dreams…. his response: “Jimmy Hendrix is famous but can’t sing at all, so you might have some luck.”  …A father saying that to his kid he adopted and then sent away for all of his formative years is really rude, inconsiderate, and not very “fatherly.” However, putting a positive spin on this, I will say that it has given me a lot to think about, and a lot more to write about. So inspiration is great. Moving on, here are a few samples of what I’ve been working on:

1. “I Can’t” (Work in Progress)

2. “Without Words

3.  “Just Call
